temple / bodybuilding.com

i first came across Bodybuilding.com when i was ordering supplements one day and was blown away at the amount of FREE content they had.  this site is like  having a personal trainer for nothing.  granted, nothing beats having an actually person there with you in the gym.  at least if you check out the tons of free videos, forum and other resources…you sound a bit more intelligent if you do hire a personal trainer….or better yet, you won’t look like a complete idiot walking around the gym, looking at the equipment like IT’S suppose to tell you what to do with it.

their exercise guides are really top drawer:  you simply select the part of your body you want to work on, and they give you a comprehensive list of exercises to pick from.  the thing i like most is they give you the option of ”body only” exercises or exercises that require equipment.

with this recession in full effect, BodyBuilding.com, is a cost-effective alternative to either getting you in shape or maintaining the definition you’ve got.  check ‘em out!

temple / the only list you should take to heart

so i’m messing around on the Mayo Clinic website, and came across a very interesting list pertaining to men’s health.  they listed the top ten threats to mens health.  the thing that stood out the most to me was the fact, in all honesty, most of the threats were in fact preventable.  here’s the list….

  1. heart disease
  2. cancer
  3. injuries
  4. stroke
  5. COPD (anything with initials means the name is too damn long and the issue is too freaking complicated for me.)
  6. type 2 diabetes
  7. flu
  8. suicide
  9. kidney disease
  10. alzheimer’s disease

i was pretty surprised suicide was on the top ten.  i was under the impression if you could make it through high school, you could damn near handle anything life through at you.  personally speaking, that was the last place i felt like offing myself.  high school sucks!

chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), chronic lung conditions including bronchitis and emphysema.  the simplest way to  to prevent it is STOP SMOKING!  why in the hell people still smoke is beyond me.  there is not one thing sexy about walking around with a cancer stick dangling from your mouth.

chances are you’re killing more people around you by exposing them to second-hand smoke.  now if you’re a passive-aggressive assassin, constantly around your mark puffing away….go for it!  but if you’re around your kids, spouses or loved ones, remember this:  in california about 4,700 nonsmokers die of secondhand smoke every year, children exposed to secondhand smoke are vulnerable to malfunctioning of the lungs and respiratory problems, smoke can enter through electrical sockets, cracks in the ceiling as well as other openings.  so smoking on the other side of a door or in the garage does nothing to reduce your loved ones risk of contracting lung cancer or cardiovascular disease.  stop killing people, you chump!

men, let’s all take a few extra steps in 2010, to try and live a healthier year!
