whiff / l’homme by yves saint laurent

i have been trying to find a new scent for the spring-summer season and i MAY found it!  L’Homme by Yves Saint Laurent is a really great scent to carry me through august.

i prefer my summer scents to be light and more to the background.  besides, who wants to attract bee’s and other insects?!  that is not clever, running around swinging your arms and damn near hyperventilating once a swarm of wasps latchs onto your cologne.  wasps attempting to have their way with you isn’t the look by any means.

L’Homme has subtle clean smell, that isn’t overpowering at all.  it almost has the initial hint of baby powder, but it matures really quickly into a mellow cologne.

  • top note: haiti vetiver, tonka beans,
  • middle note: white ginger, basil flower, white pepper, violet leaves
  • base note: cedar, bergamot, cedarwood
  • where to wear: work/play.  this easily a work cologne.  can be worn during play as a little movement will strike up the cedar and bergamot and bring out the base notes throughout the day.

whiff / Yves Saint Laurent M7

YSL M7, so-named because it’s the seventh men’s cologne in the line, is breathtaking!  launched in 2002, under the creative direction of Tom Ford, it is a masterpiece.

when you smell it, it smells weighty, heavy and very earthy.  it is pure vetiver!  it at once takes over you and makes you the focus in the room.  to me it’s a winter cologne:  meant for wool suits, nights by the fire and sweaters.

this cologne is dense, swirling and opulent.  here is the make-up:

    • top note: bergamot, mandarin and rosemary
    • middle note: agarwood, aloeswood, oud and haitian vetiver
    • base note: amber, musk and mandrake root
    • where to wear: night.  this should certainly be worn throughout the fall and winter months. one spray is just enough.  believe me!

when you use this as your magazine ad...you MUST know your cologne is the shit!
